Consider Deflectors Instead of Your Car’s Air Conditioner
It’s July, so your car gets incredibly hot when parked outside on a sunny day. Your first instinct may be to crank the a/c to maximum, but consider that you’re using more gas when you do so. Instead, think about installing deflectors around your car windows. These devices permit you to open the windows, allow fresh air in, while keeping bugs and highway noise out. Just remember-each gallon of gas you don’t use saves almost 20 lbs. of carbon dioxide pollution from going up into the atmosphere.

Can you give more detail e.g.
1. How much more gas does the deflector use.
1.1 E.g. my Honda Civic Hybrid is very slick I am
sure adding a deflector would make my MPG go
down. (My new tires did)
1.2 If people leave the deflectors on all year will
they actually use more gas?
2. How much does my MGP change if I just crack the
windows or open them, is that, besides the noise,
much worse than the deflectors and how much better
than the AC?
3. If the deflectors are valid.
3.1 Where to get them for the various cars.
3.2 Are they easy to put on and off,
e.g. Summer on, Winter off?
Thanks, Eberhard Veit.

My question is would a combination of both refectors and A/C help cool down the car quicker?
