Security Threats Seen as Arctic Ice Melts
Much of the concern expressed about melting ice at the poles has concerned the disappearance of polar bears and other species, as well as how much sea levels will rise worldwide. Now comes a new problem: as previously impassable routes open to shipping, Pentagon officials worry that access to North America from above could become a security problem.
